DIY HARVESTED BUD VASE ARRANGEMENTS

I love having fresh blooms in the house, they always brighten my mood and remind me of this beautiful world we get to call home.

When I set out to plant our herb box this year I decided to plant some of my favourite blooms that I could cut and place in bud vases around our home.

Having fresh flowers around the house is always a pick me up but there’s something extra special when you grew the flowers yourself.

Below are some tips to consider when harvesting and arranging your own bud vases.

  1. Invest in some beautiful bud vases. A little goes a long way so make sure to a have a handful around the house. A singular bloom can look stunning in a bud vase. I love placing them on my bedside table and near by kitchen sink to bring a little joy when I’m working away in the kitchen or when I first rise in the morning.

  2. Picking out which blooms to grow. I went with cosmos as they’re my favourite flower (one of them anyway), they have long stems and a singular plant has many blooms at once. That makes it easy to harvest them on the regular. Also consider what colours work in your home. I went with white this year as I love a good neutral but pops of colour are gorgeous too.

  3. Look around you. Herbs, weeds, grasses, wild flowers all can be a beautiful addition to a bud vase. I used fresh thyme and lavender to add a bit of aroma. Queen Anne’s lace is a personal favourite of mine. It grows wild out here in Langley so there’s always plenty to collect.
