BACKYARD BBQ Cheese BURGERS

Who doesn't love a classic backyard BBQ cheese burger. They have always been one of my favourite memories of summer. I love sitting outside after a long day in the sun and enjoying a cheeseburger with salad a fresh piece of corn on the cob. Does it get better?

This is the recipe my family has been making for as long as I can remember. If you have any special family burger secrets comment below. I would love to give them a try.

serves 3

INGREDIENTS

for the patties

1 lbs extra lean ground beef

1 egg

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

for the burgers

3 hamburger buns (we used…you could also make fraiche nutrition’s buns)

3 slices of aged cheddar cheese (or the cheese of your choice)

traditional toppings

3 tomatoes thinly sliced

1 onion, sliced into rings and BBQ/Sauté

mustard

ketchup

3 large leaves ice berg lettuce

alt toppings

I started making this a few years ago and still love it:

secret sauce

  • 1/4 cup light mayonnaise

  • 1/2 lemon juiced

  • 2 tsp sriracha

  • salt and pepper to taste

arugula

DIRECTIONS

Prep:

Prep your toppings first and set aside.

If you’re making the special sauce version, combine all ingredients together in a small bowl, mix well and place in the fridge until your burgers are ready to be served. Set the arugula aside in a bowl.

Making the patties:

Combine 1 lbs extra lean ground beef with 1 egg, 1 tbsp steak seasoning, 1 tbsp Worcestershire. Once the ingredients are properly mixed together, shape it into three patties, you can use a patty shaper or shape it with your hands. (Make sure to wash your hands well after handling the raw meat.

Cooking the patties:

Depending on how thick your burgers are, cook them for approximately 5 minutes a side on 450ºF.

Once the patties have cooked through, place thin slices of cheese on top of each patty. Close the cover of the BBQ to let the cheese melt, this should only take one minute. Check on them about halfway through to ensure your cheese isn’t melting and dripping on your BBQ.

Remove the patties and place on the bun, dress them as you like and enjoy.

(I like to heat my bun a little, either by placing it in the microwave for 5-10 seconds or by placing it on the top rack of the BBQ for a few minutes to warm it slightly, but this is totally optional)

Serve with roasted mushroom, baby kale and arugula salad with truffle oil drizzle.

Bon Apetit.
